Privacy Policy
How we collect, use, and protect your information
Effective date: August 21, 2026
At Codeenv, accessible from codeenv.com, protecting the privacy of our visitors is one of our top priorities. Codeenv is a platform of free, browser-based web tools, and this Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices and rights you have. By using our website, you consent to the practices described here.
1. Information We Collect
Information you give us directly. When you use our contact form, subscribe to updates, or leave a comment on the blog, we collect the details you provide, such as your name, email address, and the content of your message.
Information collected automatically. Like most websites, our servers and analytics tools automatically log certain technical data when you visit, including your IP address, browser type and version, device and operating system, referring/exit pages, timestamps, and general usage patterns. This information does not, on its own, identify you personally and is used for analytics, security, and improving the site.
Content you submit to our tools. Many Codeenv tools work entirely in your browser and never send your files or text to our servers. Some tools (for example, file converters or checkers that need to query external services) do require your input to be sent to our servers for processing. In that case, we use the submitted content only to generate the result you requested, and we do not review, sell, or repurpose it. Uploaded files and text are automatically deleted from our servers shortly after processing and are not retained longer than necessary to provide the tool's output.
2. Cookies and Similar Technologies
Codeenv uses cookies and similar technologies (such as local storage) to remember your preferences, keep the site functioning correctly, understand how visitors use our tools, and, where applicable, to serve relevant advertising. Cookies fall into a few categories:
- Essential cookies — required for core site functionality.
- Analytics cookies — help us understand how visitors use the site so we can improve it.
- Advertising cookies — used by us and third-party partners to show relevant ads and measure their performance.
You can control or delete cookies at any time through your browser settings. Disabling cookies may affect the functionality of some tools. Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies to serve ads on our site based on your prior visits to this and other websites; you can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google's Ads Settings.
3. How We Use Your Information
- To provide, operate, and maintain the website and its tools
- To respond to your messages, questions, and support requests
- To monitor and analyze usage and trends to improve our tools and content
- To detect, prevent, and address technical issues, abuse, or fraud
- To comply with applicable legal obligations
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use the content of files or text you submit to our tools for advertising or profiling purposes.
4. Third-Party Services
We work with trusted third parties to help operate and improve Codeenv, including web analytics providers (such as Google Analytics) and advertising networks (such as Google AdSense). These providers may set their own cookies and collect data about your visit in accordance with their own privacy policies. We do not control these third parties' practices and encourage you to review their respective privacy policies. Some tools may also connect to external APIs (for example, to look up domain, DNS, or backlink data) solely to return the result you requested.
5. Data Retention and Security
We retain contact-form messages and account-related data only as long as needed to respond to you or as required by law. Content submitted to our tools for processing is deleted automatically once your result has been generated, typically within a short time. We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect information from unauthorized access, loss, or misuse; however, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
6. Your Privacy Rights
GDPR (EEA, UK, and Switzerland). If you are located in these regions, you have the right to access, correct, or erase your personal data, restrict or object to its processing, request data portability, and withdraw consent at any time. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. To exercise any of these rights, please contact us via our Contact page.
CCPA/CPRA (California). If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information we collect, request deletion of your data, opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information (Codeenv does not sell personal information), and not be discriminated against for exercising these rights. You may submit requests through our Contact page.
We will respond to verified requests within the timeframe required by applicable law.
7. Children's Privacy
Codeenv is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or the relevant minimum age in your jurisdiction). If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can promptly remove it.
8. International Data Transfers
Codeenv's servers and service providers may be located in countries other than your own. By using our website, you understand that your information may be transferred to, and processed in, countries with data protection laws that may differ from those in your country of residence.
9. Do Not Track
Some browsers offer a "Do Not Track" signal. Because there is no common industry standard for responding to such signals, Codeenv does not currently respond differently to DNT signals, though you can manage tracking through cookie settings as described above.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal, operational, or regulatory reasons. The "Effective date" at the top of this page indicates when it was last revised. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
11. Contact Us
If you have questions, concerns, or requests regarding this Privacy Policy or your personal data, please reach out through our Contact page.
